Frack, Crack, Bomb, Bang: Open Call for Songs, Singers, & Musical Collaborators

In case you missed it, we recently announced that Holy Crick Records, LLC was awarded a grant through Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA), and that we are subsequently producing and recording a new album with the working title “Frack, Crack, Bomb, Bang: The Sounds of Fracking Country.”
Our own Rumble & Scream will be composing the core structure of this soundtrack, but we’d like to feature a few other artists alongside us to expand upon sonic textures and to attempt to paint a more full, diverse picture of “frackalachia”—its people, its flora, fauna, and their shared landscapes that all bleed together. We are interested in connecting and collaborating with singers, songwriters, and musicians who share these passions and concerns, as well as those who bring unique perspectives and methods of expression to this story and project.
While we are especially interested in hearing from people with first-hand experience—those living and working in the communities, regions, and industries that are most heavily-effected by fracking—we are not limiting our call to these areas alone because as DVAA notes:
“Our land. The air we breathe. The water we drink. Everything that becomes part of us builds our bodies and landscapes or poisons them. Everyone is affected by fracking in some way.”
Rumble & Scream will be recording a mixture of new original material as well as putting our spin on some traditional folk songs, we welcome and encourage you to do the same! We’re a band that defines our sound loosely as “post-industrial folk-rock,” so we don’t intend for this album to be confined by the boundaries of genre much either—rather it will all come down to which pieces fit the puzzle and make up the picture of “Frack, Crack, Bomb, Bang: The Sound of Fracking Country” and the record it’s meant to be.
An important resource to check out before submitting any work is the podcast, Exposure, where you will find interviews with a wide range of people whose lives have been effected by this extractive industry. Aside from being a fountain of valuable information, you might like to know that we will be featuring clips, samples, and soundbites of this podcast on the album…
