Frack, Crack, Boom, Bang: Open Call for Songs, Singers, & Musical Collaborators
“The message that we carried 50 years ago is the same message that we are carrying right now, which is one of self-determination, of self-efficacy, and that there are unlimited possibilities—if you’re ready to do the work. So you can change yourself. You can change your friends. You can change your neighborhood, your community, your country, the planet. But you gotta be ready to do the work.”
—Wayne Kramer, with MC50 live in KEXP studio (October 16, 2018)
In case you missed it, we recently announced that Holy Crick Records, LLC was awarded a grant through Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA), and that we are subsequently producing and recording a new album with the working title “Frack, Crack, Boom, Bang: The Sounds of Fracking Country.”
Our own Rumble & Scream will be composing the core structure of this soundtrack, but we’d like to feature a few other artists alongside us to expand upon sonic textures and to attempt to paint a more full, diverse picture of “frackalachia”—its people, its flora, fauna, and their shared landscapes that all bleed together. We are interested in connecting and collaborating with singers, songwriters, and musicians who share these passions and concerns, as well as those who bring unique perspectives and methods of expression to this story and project.
While we are especially interested in hearing from people with first-hand experience—those living and working in the communities, regions, and industries that are most heavily-effected by fracking—we are not limiting our call to these areas alone because as DVAA notes:
“Our land. The air we breathe. The water we drink. Everything that becomes part of us builds our bodies and landscapes or poisons them. Everyone is affected by fracking in some way.”
Rumble & Scream will be recording a mixture of new original material as well as putting our spin on some traditional folk songs, we welcome and encourage you to do the same! We’re a band that defines our sound loosely as “post-industrial folk-rock,” so we don’t intend for this album to be confined by the boundaries of genre much either—rather it will all come down to which pieces fit the puzzle and make up the picture of “Frack, Crack, Boom, Bang: The Sound of Fracking Country” and the record it’s meant to be.
An important resource to check out before submitting any work is the podcast, Exposure, where you will find interviews with a wide range of people whose lives have been effected by this extractive industry. Aside from being a fountain of valuable information, you might like to know that we will be featuring clips, samples, and soundbites of this podcast on the album…
“Let people know the future we can build.”
Please find the form to submit your work to be considered for this important project below! We will be accepting submissions through May 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM. We will be recording throughout June 2025. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Blessings from Holy Crick,

Note: we’re still ironing out the details of our distribution plans for this album, though we do intend to donate a portion of the proceeds of any album sales back to the project’s sponsored organizations, and we will keep you apprised along each step of the way—but please rest assured, as a family-owned-and-operated independent record label, founded by artists—musician’s and songwriter’s rights are very important to us!

What’s new at Holy Crick?
Holy Crick Records, LLC is proud to announce that we’ve been awarded a grant through Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA)—which means we’ll be making another album sooner rather than later! We’re also going to try wading into new waters with this record, but first…
A bit about the project per DVAA:
“We have partnered with Damascus Citizens for Sustainability (DCS) and the Ohio Valley Allies to collect oral histories and narratives from people living on the front lines of “frack country.”
Living in “frack country” has been described as living in a war zone. Big oil’s insatiable hunt for fuel has fractured lives, divided communities, and threatens delicate ecosystems we inhabit and rely on. Our land. The air we breathe. The water we drink. Everything that becomes part of us builds our bodies and landscapes or poisons them.
Everyone is affected by fracking in some way. Yet there are no solutions until we as a culture, feel a need for them.
As artists, we are called to bridge the gaps between science and emotion, culture and communities — what can you create from frontline narratives that sheds light not only on fracking’s impact on people and the planet but the traumas and lived experiences faced every day by those on the front lines?”
The working title of our next record is: “Frack, Crack, Boom, Bang: The Sounds of Fracking Country.” While our own Rumble & Scream will be composing the core structure of this soundtrack, we’d like to feature a few other artists alongside us to expand upon sonic textures and to attempt to paint a more full, diverse picture of “frackalachia”—its people, its flora, fauna, and their shared landscapes that all bleed together.
ARTISTS (singers/songwriters/musicians): we’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks about how you may have a chance for your voice to become a part of the Holy Crick universe…
Thank you so much to everyone at DVAA for this incredible opportunity! Please keep a watch on this site for the latest information and updates about the project!
Blessings,
Jordan Tyler Temchack
